Blood Donation and Testing by ESN Thessaloniki, 27. 11. 2018

The time has come for YOU to have a chance to save a life!
On November 20th join us @ AHEPA Hospital and donate blood!
Also, we will all have the chance to get tested on HIV and AIDS beforehand by the organization Checkpoint Thessaloniki anonymous and for free!  The Checkpoint team will be there for us near to the hospital's entrance in their mobile testing van in the context of the European testing week ( https://mycheckpoint.gr/en/home/ ).

MEETING POINT: Between the central library and the entrance of the Ahepa hospital on the Aristotle University campus. We will also share a life location with you on that day!

You CAN donate blood if you:
•are fit and healthy
•weigh over 50kg
•you’ve had 6 or more hours of sleep

You CAN'T donate blood if:
•you are on antibiotics.
•you were sick during the past two weeks.
•it’s the morning and you haven’t eaten in the last 3-4 hours.
•you have severe allergies.
•you drunk alcohol the night before the donation.
• you had a tattoo or a piercing during the last 6 months.
•you traveled to a country where Malaria is at high risk in the past 6 months.

Men can give blood every 3 months and women can give blood every 4 months.

If you are donating blood in the morning please have a light breakfast (excluding pastries, sandwiches, eggs etc) such as bread, cereal or cookies and drink plenty of water.

Unfortunately, women on their period cannot donate blood.
