Another weekend, another trip. This time the destination is the beautiful city of Kavala and the archaeological place of Philippi.
There will be a guided tour at Philippi and then a visit and free time at the city of Kavala and the castle.

Philippi was established by Thasian colonists in 360/359 BC with the name Krenides. In 356 BC Philip II of Macedonia, conquered the city and renamed it to Philippi. It was sited near the head of the Aegean Sea and at the foot of Mt. Orbelos, now called Mt. Lekani, about 13 km north-west of Kavala.
Philippi was classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2016.
